The sole purpose of hospitals run by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is to help veterans. So it only makes sense that a VA hospital was the venue of choice when Verizon Communications and DLA Piper decided a few years ago they wanted to work together on pro bono projects that help veterans.
Since November 2012, lawyers from the wireless communications company, headquartered in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, and DLA Piper have been holding a legal clinic for veterans. They meet with about 20 veterans on the third Friday of every month at a VA medical center in Lyons, New Jersey, a few minutes from Verizon’s offices.
