Arbol, a four-year-old company that helps businesses analyze and manage climate risk, has hired Matthew Gabin, a divisional general counsel at insurance giant Swiss Re, to be chief legal officer and deputy chief operating officer.

Gabin is a veteran in-house lawyer with expertise in insurance-linked securities, where investors speculate on events like hurricanes or earthquakes, and contracts involving weather risk transfer, where policyholders are compensated for losses stemming from extreme weather.
