A federal judge has sentenced Bruce Matson, the former chief legal officer of now-defunct Virginia law firm LeClairRyan, to 44 months in prison for obstructing a federal probe into his misconduct as a bankruptcy trustee.

Matson, who pleaded guilty to the charge in July and agreed to disbarment last year, will also have to pay a $10,000 fine, according to an order by U.S. District Senior Judge John Gibney Jr. of the Eastern District of Virginia.
