Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co. has hired two new partners for its Delhi and Mumbai offices.
Sandip Beri is joining Amarchand in Delhi from Citibank India, where he was general counsel.
Qualified in India and the U.S., Beri joined Sidley Austin in Chicago as an associate in 1995, leaving five years later for an in-house role in New York with GE Capital. He returned to India in 2007 to become GE’s general counsel in the country, leaving in 2010 for the Citibank role.
Last month, Citibank brought aboard IndusLaw partner Pramod Rao to succeed Beri as India general counsel.
At Amarchand, Beri will advises on securities, banking, structured finance and private equity deals, as well as mergers and acquisitions.
In a separate move, Yashojit Mitra is moving to Amarchand’s Mumbai office from local firm Economic Law Practice, where he was partner.
Mitra, who is qualified in both India and the U.K., advises on foreign investment deals, including mergers and acquisitions and private equity deals. Prior to joining Economic Law Practices in 2007, he was an associate at DSK Legal in Mumbai.
Amarchand, India’s largest law firm, has over 550 lawyers, including 84 partners, in seven offices.
