K&L Gates has added a corporate partner in Hong Kong.
Virginia Tam was previously a partner in Hong Kong with White & Case. She specializes in cross-border deals involving public companies, including private equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, and public offerings in Hong Kong and the United States.
Last year, Tam was part of a White & Case team that advised Nestlé Health Science S.A., subsidiary of Nestlé S.A., on an equal share joint venture with Chinese pharmaceutical and healthcare group Chi-Med Group to develop and manufacture medicinal products derived from plants.
Tam joined White & Case in 2011 from Jones Day, where she was also a partner.
K&L Gates also announced it had hired two counsels–Sacha Cheong in Hong Kong and Soheui Choe in Seoul. Cheong is a disputes lawyer who was previously an associate at Clifford Chance. Choe, formerly an associate in the Washington, D.C., office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, will join K&L Gates’ intellectual property group in Seoul.
