“That prosecutor had never had that conversation before with a defense lawyer. That prosecutor didn’t know that that was how things worked, that that was not an obstruction of justice,” she said. The leadership in the office, she added, failed to realize that the law firm partners’ request was not an obstruction of justice. “Thank goodness that there was a requirement that Main Justice Criminal Division had to review the request to prosecute an attorney. It didn’t happen, and they now realize that it should never have gotten as far as it did.”
