Consumer lawsuits hit record lows during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a new research report, but one small group of cases skyrocketed: data breach class actions.

Attorneys filed over 11,320 consumer lawsuits in 2022, the lowest number of consumer filings in a decade, according to this year’s Consumer Protection Litigation Report, which Lex Machina, owned by LexisNexis, released Thursday.
