Up-to-date and easy-to-read, Texas Criminal Codes & Rules Annotated features annotations and updates statutes annually to reflect changes in the law

The thirty-second edition of Texas Criminal Codes & Rules Annotated is updated to address legal issues frequently encountered by lawyers and judges in the daily practice of criminal law. Over 60 new annotations, plus many more updated, provide a practical, contextual understanding of case holdings focused on areas most-commonly referenced by practitioners. Also included are the Court of Criminal Appeals rules, instructions, and procedures. Annotations and all updates to the Rules of Evidence and Rules of Appellate Procedure are current through June 30, 2025, which was completed in September 2025.

New in the 2026 edition, the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure and Texas Penal Code have been revised and updated to include:

  • Criminalization of financial abuse through the use of deceptive artificially-generated media or phishing
  • Prohibition of the recognition, service, and enforcement of extreme risk protective orders—also known as red flag orders—in Texas
  • Proscription against possession, promotion, or production of obscene visual material that appears to depict a child, including AI-generated or animated content
