On May 7th 2019, a selection of the Private Client Global Elite arrived at Home House, Marylebone, London to participate in the first Leadership Day.

The day combined a mixture of keynotes from leaders within the government and the highest judicial office and practical leadership tips from prominent academics, consultants, Managing Partners and Single Family Offices.

The Rt Hon. the Lord Neuberger of Abbotsbury, Former President of the Supreme Court, UK The Rt Hon. the Lord Mance P.C., Former Deputy President of the Supreme Court, UK Interviewed by Robert Ham QC and Gilead Cooper QC, Wilberforce Chambers, UK

The Global Elite were honoured to welcome both Lord Neuberger of Abbotsbury and Lord Mance P.C. to the Leadership Day, to discuss transformational judicial leadership, the importance of dissenting judgments and the merits of leading the nation’s highest judicial court.

Our interviews were off the record and privy to those fortunate enough to be in the room, but the focal points on leadership challenges and successes were as follows:

  • Driving a feedback programme about the Supreme Court judiciary from practicing barristers
  • Inciting change regarding raising the retirement age
  • Accessibility and educating the next generation about the importance of the legal system and its processes
  • The impact of concurring and dissenting judgments, including flexibility in the law and aiding counsel
  • Inherent difficulties in choosing who is to sit on particular cases
