Artificial intelligence (AI) has long been a fascination in our world. Inventors such as Leonardo da Vinci created “automatons” that could move without human intervention. The 1968 film, 2001: A Space Odyssey, gave us HAL, perhaps the first “famous” AI who asserted “I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do.”

For over 50 years, our popular media has been filled with stories of AI taking over the world and becoming sentient. The advancement of AI’s capabilities is the forefront of technological advancement growth; however, the growth of new technology is often faster than the laws, and without laws to regulate the use and development of AI, it creates there is a strong potential for AI to be misused.
