Sacramento Assemblyman Darrell Steinberg was joining Hanson, Bridgett, Marcus, Vlahos & Rudy as of counsel in what firm leaders called a move to bolster the San Francisco firm’s fast-growing government relations and ethics practice. The three-term Democrat was leaving the Legislature due to term limits. “People ask, ‘Is [Steinberg] not going to be a lobbyist?’” Managing Partner Andrew Giacomini said. “He will be a lawyer.”

Andrew Gonzales, a two-time president of Santa Clara County’s La Raza Lawyers Association, died Nov. 22 from pneumonia. He was just 39. Gonzales had fought to ensure legal education for Latinos while building an employment, business and real estate practice. He had founded and endowed a scholarship fund to benefit Latino law students.
