The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Circuit has reversed a district court ruling which held that plaintiffs’ Fourth Amendment rights hadn’t been violated by an FBI search and seizure, concluding the FBI’s warrant didn’t specifically authorize a criminal search.

The court held that plaintiffs’, owners of a safe deposit box rental business rights were violated after the FBI conducted a search and seizure of some of their safe deposit boxes without a warrant that specifically authorized a criminal search or seizure of the content in the business’s boxes.
