Jones Day announced that Christine Hwang has joined the firm as a partner in its employee benefits and executive compensation practice. She is based in Jones Day’s San Francisco Office. Hwang represents employee health and welfare plans and defined benefit pension plans, advising them on a wide range of ERISA compliance issues—including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, and HIPAA—and various participant issues. She also has experience representing welfare and pension plans in benefit claims litigation, and the prosecution of all stages of collection arbitration and litigation.

Vedder Price announced the addition of veteran real estate attorney Gregg Bernhard as a shareholder in the Los Angeles office where he will be a component of the firm’s expanding real estate practice group. The primary focus of Bernhard’s practice is on domestic real estate transactions, with an emphasis on acquisition, leasing financing and development. Prior to joining the firm, Bernhard spent the previous seven years as a partner with Seyfarth Shaw and he brings to Vedder Price experience in representing owners, sellers, buyers, borrowers and tenants in various facets of commercial real estate.
