California’s state bar has parted ways with its long-time contract lobbyist in Sacramento following a year when the agency’s lawyer-disciplinary practices drew a new wave of legislative scrutiny.

Jennifer Wada confirmed on Friday that she is no longer representing the state bar. The state Capitol veteran started lobbying for the bar in 2007 along with fellow advocate Anthony Williams. Wada, a California-licensed lawyer, took on the role herself in 2010 when Williams left to become counsel to then-state Senate leader Darrell Steinberg.
