Welcome to the 14th annual Lawyers on the Fast Track supplement. Each year in this space, we shine a light on the outstanding young attorneys in Pennsylvania and the work they are doing to help shape the present and future of the legal profession in the state. The 40 attorneys profiled here, all under the age of 40, are already making an impact across the state. They are leaders of the bar and of their communities, and their stature is sure to grow as they add to their already impressive resumes in the coming years. These Lawyers on the Fast Track represent the very best of what the legal profession has to offer.
The lawyers here all made it to this point through different paths, but all have made contributions to the legal community through their advancement of the law, leadership and pro bono efforts. The diverse group includes lawyers from all regions of the state and all types of firms, from the largest in the state to some of the very smallest, from office leaders to firm founders. They are involved in some of the biggest matters in the courts, locally, nationally and globally, handling matters in practice areas ranging from family law to complex commercial litigation.
As in years past, this impressive assortment of young attorneys was gathered with the assistance of the legal community and an objective six-member judging panel. The process began months ago, when we solicited nominations from law firms of all sizes, corporate counsel groups, public interest groups, various bar associations and The Legal’s audience. Our intention was to search all corners of the state for the best and brightest lawyers. We requested that a nomination form be completed for each attorney, detailing specifically what makes the individual stand out. Nominating parties were asked to focus on four specific areas of achievement: development of the law, advocacy, community contributions and service to the bar.
We received an overwhelming response. Dozens and dozens of nominations came pouring in, many of them accompanied by glowing letters of recommendation from colleagues and clients. We passed the nominations along to our esteemed judging panel, which included a law school professor, legal recruiter, a name partner, a commercial litigator and two public interest organization leaders, some of whom are former Fast Track winners themselves. The panel reviewed each nomination individually, carefully grading the candidates in the above-mentioned areas to determine the winners.
I would like to personally thank the judging panel for helping us select such a notable group, as well as everyone who took the time to submit nominations or write letters of recommendation for your peers and colleagues. Without your efforts, we wouldn’t be able to cast such a wide net to ensure we select the best of the best.
And, of course, The Legal’s staff offers our congratulations to the members of this year’s class of Lawyers on the Fast Track. Though each has already accomplished so much, this is still only the beginning for them, and we’re looking forward to watching all of their future endeavors. We look forward to congratulating you all in person at our celebratory dinner.
