Derek Dissinger joined Barley Snyder as an associate in its finance and creditors’ rights and real estate groups.

He represents creditors such as banks, credit unions, large and small businesses and professional organizations in a range of commercial loan transactions.

He is a licensed title agent and will counsel clients through various types of real estate transactions.

Kirsten S. Balzer joined Rubin, Glickman, Steinberg and Gifford.

Her practice focuses on family law, handling matters including divorce, custody, child support and property division.

She also represents clients in the area of education law, having previously served as a law clerk in the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s office of chief counsel.

Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti added three attorneys to the firm’s Pittsburgh office.

David P. Stitzel is an associate in the firm’s intellectual property and intellectual property litigation practice groups.

Stitzel focuses his practice on patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, licensing, opinions and litigation.

Brian M. Hentosz is an associate in the employment and labor, intellectual property litigation, and litigation practice groups.

Hentosz previously worked as a student attorney at the Tulane University Law School Civil Litigation Clinic.

Frank H. Stoy is an associate in the litigation practice group of Pietragallo Gordon.

Prior to joining the firm, Stoy served as special assistant to Dean Ken Gormley, and as director of academic excellence, at Duquesne University.

Maxwell Briskman Stanfield joined the Pittsburgh office of Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott as an associate in the business division.

He focuses his practice on general corporate law and hospitality law matters.


Kevin L. Connors, the managing partner of Connors Law, was a featured panel presenter at the National Workers’ Compensation and Disability Conference in Las Vegas.

He presented with a panel on “Top Reasons Claimants Seek Attorneys.”

Connors is the co-chair of the firm’s workers’ compensation defense practice.


Effective Jan. 1, the new name of the Law Offices of Ira Weiss is Weiss Burkardt Kramer LLC.

Two of the firm’s longtime attorneys were named as partners.

M. Janet Burkardt and Jocelyn Kramer have been with the firm for 13 years and 10 years, respectively.

Burkardt became managing attorney of the firm in 2012.

Both attorneys serve as solicitors and special counsel for school districts and local municipalities, with experience in labor/employment, special education and tax matters in Pennsylvania.
