Philadelphia is on track to have spent what appears to be a record amount of money settling litigation stemming from alleged civil rights abuses in 2023.

According to public records, the city agreed to pay out $32 million to resolve civil rights claims through the third quarter of 2023. Coupled with a high-profile case that the city agreed to resolve in November for $9.1 million, Philadelphia is set to have spent at least $41 million settling civil rights cases over the year.
