A federal judge granted summary judgment in favor of an organization that certifies international physicians to practice in the United States in a negligent infliction of emotional distress suit brought by four women who learned that their former obstetrician—whom the defendant certified—was operating under a false identity and had never graduated medical school.

U.S. District Judge Joshua Wolson of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania found that, because the plaintiffs’ distress came out of new information they learned about past events, they could not bring a claim.
