As the construction industry continues to recover from restrictions placed on businesses throughout the past year, one important new requirement—unrelated to COVID-19, believe it or not—deserves special attention.

On Oct. 7, 2020, the Pennsylvania Construction Industry Verification Act, also known as Act 75, took effect. Intended to prohibit employers in the construction industry from employing unauthorized employees, the act requires employers in Pennsylvania to verify the work eligibility of their employees, lays out a verification process and outlines the penalties for not adhering to the rule.
