Hinshaw & Culbertson (Chicago): Randy Aoyama joins the firm as partner in the Phoenix office and will focus on business litigation, commercial disputes, products liability and personal injury litigation. Previously, Aoyama was a partner at Renaud Cook Drury Mesaros.

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld: Michael Byrd joins the firm’s energy practice as partner in the Houston office and will focus on mergers and acquisitions. Previously, Byrd was a partner at Baker & McKenzie.

Bressler, Amery & Ross (Florham Park, N.J.): Kenneth Cesta and Douglas Eisenstein join the firm as partners. Cesta joins the commercial litigation and labor and employment practice in the Florham Park office. Eisenstein joins the commercial litigation practice in the New York office and will focus on insurance coverage disputes. Previously, Cesta was a partner at Hoagland, Longo, Moran, Dunst & Doukas and Eisenstein was of counsel to Carroll McNulty & Kull.

Cooley (Palo Alto): Divakar Gupta joins the firm’s capital-markets practice as partner in the New York office and will represent public and private emerging-growth companies and investment banks in transactions. Previously, Gupta was a partner at Latham & Watkins.

Crowell & Moring (Washington): Baird Fogel joins the firm’s corporate and energy groups as partner in the San Francisco office and will focus on transactional matters in the alternative energy field. Previously, Fogel was a partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.

Holland & Knight: Tara Kaushik joins the firm’s West Coast land-use and environmental practice as partner in the San Francisco office and will focus on energy and tribal law. Previously, Kaushik was a partner at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips.

K&L Gates: Arturo Meglio joins the firm’s corporate mergers and acquisitions practice as partner in the Milan office and will focus on domestic and cross-border transactions. Previously, Meglio was a partner at Bird & Bird.

Manatt, Phelps & Phillips (Los Angeles): Jesse Brody joins the firm’s ­advertising, marketing and media practice as partner in the Los Angeles office and will focus on advertising, entertainment, technology, new media and privacy. Previously, Brody was a partner at Edwards Wildman Palmer. Additionally, Mandana Massoumi joins the employment and labor practice as partner in the Costa Mesa, Calif., office and will focus on litigation. Previously, Massoumi was a partner at Dorsey & Whitney.

Perkins Coie (Seattle): Jordan Kroop joins the firm’s financial-transactions and restructuring group as partner in the Phoenix office and will focus on bankruptcy, workouts and related matters. Previously, Kroop was a partner at Squire Sanders. Additionally, Paul Cohen joins the firm’s commercial litigation practice as partner in the New York office and will represent clients in international arbitration. Previously, Cohen was a partner at Thompson & Knight.

Stubbs Alderton & Markiles (Sherman Oaks, Calif.): Michael Sherman joins the firm as leader of the newly created business litigation group in the Sherman Oaks office and will focus on commercial litigation. Previously, Sherman was a partner at Bingham McCutchen.

NEW ARRIVALS

Carroll, Burdick & McDonough (San Francisco): Steven Swaney joins the firm’s class action practice as partner in the San Francisco office and will focus on products liability and class action defense. Previously, Swaney served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Maryland.

King & Spalding (Atlanta): Aurélia de Viry joins the firm’s newly established Paris tax ­practice as partner and will focus on French real estate and corporate tax law. Previously, De Viry was counsel to Clifford Chance.

Snell & Wilmer: Paul Betzer joins the firm’s oil and gas practice as counsel to the Denver office and will focus on energy law, including real estate matters and transactions. Previously, Betzer was director of property tax, real estate, right of way and claims for the central and eastern United States and Europe at Phillips 66 Co.
