In a fourth amended complaint filed on January 4, the city of Bell submitted emails sent between Nixon Peabody partners Edsell Martindale Eady Jr. and Dominique de La Chapelle. The city alleges the exchange points to a conflict of interest involving a 2007 bond deal the firm handled. The emails also have been submitted in a case filed against the city by the purchaser of those bonds, Dexia Credit Local.

Firm spokeswoman Allison McClain said via email: “Given that this is an active litigation matter, it would not be appropriate for us to comment on this case at this time.” Eady referred a call to his attorney, Joel Tantalo, of Tantalo & Adler in Los Angeles, who deferred all comments to Fogelman.
