Roetzel & Andress, based in Akron, Ohio, has boosted its Chicago office with the addition of six attorneys from now-closed Belongia & Shapiro.
Joining 215-attorney Roetzel as partners are Mark Belongia, Benjamin Shapiro and Richard Hellerman. Three attorneys join as associates. The new attorneys focus on financial services, litigation and regulatory work.
Other than Chicago, Roetzel has 13 offices, including five in Ohio, five in Florida and one in New York and Washington D.C. The firm focuses on business matters, municipalities and nonprofits.
Belongia is a litigator with banking and commercial law experience. Shapiro previously served in the legal department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and Hellerman focuses on products liability, torts and commercial litigation.
“The addition of these six attorneys is in perfect alignment with our strategic plan to grow key practice areas and service offerings,” Roetzel & Andress chairman Jeffrey Castro said in a press release. The additions became effective on October 1.
Roetzel opened its Chicago office a year ago with its acquisition of eight-attorney Lewis, Overbeck & Furman. Roetzel was founded in 1876.
