House Republicans this week threatened to subpoena information from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission over its regulatory environmental, social and governance efforts, claiming SEC Chair Gary Gensler is obstructing congressional oversight.

“As the SEC Chair, you have obstructed and continue to obstruct congressional oversight,” House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chair James Comer stated in a letter to Gensler Thursday. “If you do not begin cooperating with the Committee’s oversight, the Committee has no choice but to consider the use of the compulsory process.”
