Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas on Tuesday implied that U.S. Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson was a proponent of the controversial “critical race theory” because of her membership on the board of the private Georgetown Day School.

In what appeared to be a planned attack, Cruz first asked if she knew that “CRT,” the theory that there is structural racism in our institutions, was being taught in kindergarten–12 schools. When Jackson said she didn’t know, Cruz then said the curriculum of the Georgetown school was “filled and overflowing” with CRT.
