The Judicial Conference on Tuesday authorized the development of a system that would automate the release of judges’ financial disclosures after a request is made, following an investigative report last year that revealed stock-owning federal judges oversaw cases in which they had a financial interest.

U.S. District Judge Claire Eagan, chair of the Executive Committee of the Judicial Conference, said individuals will still need to file a form requesting disclosures, but those requesters will have immediate, online access to the report they are seeking.
