The Department of Justice announced last week that a grand jury had indicted former Trump adviser Stephen Bannon on two counts of criminal contempt of Congress. Refusing to provide documents or testimony, Bannon defied a subpoena issued by the special committee investigating the violent Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol. The House of Representatives voted to hold Bannon in contempt and referred him to the DOJ for prosecution.

The committee’s chairman revealed last week that he is also weighing contempt votes against other Trump officials who have refused to comply with the panel’s subpoenas, including chief of staff Mark Meadows. The former president has instructed his associates to defy all congressional subpoenas.
