Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr has lured the No. 2 boss of enforcement at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau into private practice.

John Wells was at the CFPB for almost a decade, rising through the ranks from enforcement attorney and litigation deputy to become the agency’s deputy enforcement director in May 2018. In his time at the consumer protection watchdog Wells led or supervised more than 75 public enforcement actions.
