Brian Miller, the White House lawyer nominated to serve as the special inspector general overseeing the coronavirus relief response, is scheduled to appear Tuesday before the U.S. Senate Banking Committee for his confirmation hearing, where he can expect questions about his plans to assert independence as a key watchdog overseeing billions of dollars in pandemic relief.

Miller, a former Washington-based partner at the litigation boutique Rogers Joseph O’Donnell P.C., represented a host of corporate clients while in private practice, according to a newly filed financial disclosure that was submitted as part of the confirmation process. Miller’s clients included the defense contractor Raytheon Co., the information technology company Emergent, ERG Aerospace Corp. and Verify Inc.
