An increase in acquisition-driven consolidation is changing the composition of and competitive dynamics within the e-discovery sector. Leading the consolidation activity for 2016 were e-discovery market leaders DTI, LDiscovery and Consilio,  aggressively pursuing acquisitions and increasing the scale of their firms considerably [as illustrated in the table below].

However, because these acquisitions have broadened their services, extended their geographic reach and increased scale economies and efficiency, those market leaders have also become more competitive and able to capture more market share. As a consequence, this consolidation activity has and will continue to change the face of the industry while creating opportunities and challenges ahead.
