In the not-too-distant past, artificial technology in contract review was a myopic process, deployed solely in individual negotiations or cases to increase productivity for individual attorneys or teams. While this was undoubtedly a benefit for inside counsel, it was far from what they needed in terms of sheer scalability. Fast-forward to 2016, and the landscape has drastically changed.

To understand how AI contract review is being deployed on an entirely new scale, one has to look no further than health insurer Aetna. Speaking at “the 2016 Seal Software Conferences,” the company’s in-house counsel and limitation support professionals discussed how Aetna leveraged AI contract review for its recent merger and in-house contract demands.
