In April 2022, Microsoft consolidated the Microsoft 365 Compliance Center and Azure Purview product lines under a single umbrella: Microsoft Purview, which Microsoft described as “a comprehensive set of solutions that help you govern, protect, and manage your entire data estate.” Included in the Purview suite of products was Microsoft Purview eDiscovery (Standard), formerly known as Office 365 Core eDiscovery, and Microsoft Purview eDiscovery (Premium), formerly known as Office 365 Advanced eDiscovery.

While Microsoft has kept eDiscovery (Standard) in maintenance mode, over the past year and a half it has invested significant resources into improving the eDiscovery (Premium) product. This article outlines the latest updates to eDiscovery (Premium) as well as several road map items of interest on the horizon.
