Last month, the White House authorized the Commerce Department to renew a Trump-era executive order seeking to limit foreign cyber hackers’ ability to infiltrate U.S. cloud services, according to Politico.

To do so, Executive Order 13984 would require “more robust record-keeping practices and user identification and verification standards” from cloud providers and resellers, otherwise known as “know your customer” regulations, which have existed in the banking industry for some time.
