It is a myth that Texas lawyers all wear cowboy boots and cowboy hats. But, with apologies in advance to the smattering of vegans and animal-rights activists who practice law in the Lone Star State, it is not a myth that a lot of Texas lawyers, particularly trial lawyers, are hunters.

Before cell phones, anyone who tried to talk to a lawyer on a Friday afternoon from the beginning of dove season until about Christmas was shooting craps. Now, a lot of business gets done from deer blinds. Why it is it that so many lawyers are hunters?
