Woman attacked by four pit bulls in her neighborhood
A woman who was bitten by neighborhood pit bulls that escaped their yard agreed to a $100,000 settlement on May 16. Wendy Mann was walking near her Houston home when she was attacked. The dogs were owned by Francisco and Elizabeth Vences. Mann claimed that the Vences’ son opened the gate to the yard. Plaintiff’s counsel argued that the Vences were aware the dogs were dangerous, claiming they had escaped the yard and bitten a person three months earlier. Also, the son told the animal control officer that the dogs had attacked people before. Mann sustained multiple dog bites on her right and left forearms and thighs.
