Plaintiff awarded $10,000 for neck and back complaints

On April 12, a jury awarded a driver $10,000 for her alleged cervical and lumbar strains. Christa Cousar was driving a minivan in Beaumont when she was involved in a collision with a vehicle driven by Cobin Rocio. She claimed that Rocio ran a red light. Defense counsel argued that the accident was unavoidable, claiming Rocio passed out due to an undiagnosed medical condition and was not in control when she struck Cousar. Cousar asked the jury for $40,000.
