One of the many nightmare scenarios that can befall a lawyer is public dissemination of a client’s confidential and privileged information and the firm’s confidential information.

There are alarming reports of what happened to a multi-office firm. In early February, without warning, the firm’s website allegedly was hacked into and defaced. The hackers left behind a headline claiming to have published three gigabytes of private emails between the firm’s attorneys, according to a Feb. 3 AFP article.
