Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell partner Don Glendenning of Dallas, who leads Southern Union Co.’s deal team on its pending acquisition by Energy Transfer Equity LP (ETE), says it was a “true electronic” deal, and he doesn’t expect to personally meet many of the other lawyers working on the deal until closing.

But whether Glendenning will get the chance to shake hands with lawyers for ETE in the $7.9 billion deal is in question, now that Tulsa, Okla.-based Williams Cos. Inc. announced a rival bid on June 23 valued at $8.7 billion.
