Plaintiffs win award for soft-tissue injuries in intersection crash

On March 9, a jury awarded $7,000 to two women who claimed neck and back injuries in a broadside crash. In 2009, Bissy Tenorio was driving a minivan with Lastenia Rivera as a passenger. They were struck on the passenger side by Lynn Nelms. The plaintiffs both claimed soft-tissue injuries. The plaintiffs asked for an award of $85,000, which consisted of $50,000 for Rivera and $35,000 for Tenorio. Defense counsel noted that neither plaintiff was prescribed pain medication, neither plaintiff went to the hospital and there was a gap before treatment started.
