Worker struck in head settles for $825,000

On Feb. 15, a construction worker who was struck in the head by a steel truss that fell from a steeple agreed to an $825,000 settlement. In 2008, Donal Fowler was working on the roof of the Christian Fellowship Worship Center in Jefferson County. He alleged that contractor R. Messner Construction Co. shouldn’t have stopped work that day because of the strong winds. Christian Fellowship Worship Center settled before trial for $150,000. After the first week of trial, Fowler and R. Messner Construction Co. reached an $825,000 settlement.
