This is in reference to Charles Herring’s piece published on Jan. 17. [See "Disciplinary Rule Referendum: Vote No," Texas Lawyer , page 27.] As much as I respect Herring, I totally disagree with his views on the proposed rules. I serve on the State Bar of Texas committee that worked on the rules but did not join until after the proposed rules were drafted; I only worked on the preamble. The comments here are mine alone; I am not speaking for the committee or the State Bar.
