On June 14, a man who claimed he sustained head and neck injuries in a crash with a tractor-trailer agreed to a $695,000 settlement. In 2008, Fernando Rocha was struck by a truck driver for Central Garden & Pet Co. He said that he hit the back of his head during the accident. He eventually saw an orthopedic specialist who diagnosed a herniation at C4-5 that required surgery. Rocha claimed he had a head injury that prevented him from returning to work. The defense denied any head injury and argued that Rocha was not as hurt as he claimed and could have returned to work.
