A Lubbock County lawyer has been disbarred and ordered to pay more than $170,000 in restitution and fees, according to a recent report from the State Bar of Texas. The judgment against Brandie R. Payne alleged violations of the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct, including rules requiring clients' funds to be kept separate from the lawyer's own property. In an unrelated case, a Harris County lawyer was suspended for four months and placed on probation for 20 months.
