A law firm that referred cases to a class action RICO suit that settled for hundreds of millions of dollars in 2009 lost its bid to collect $926,000 from one of the prevailing attorneys.

A federal judge ruled that the contract between the law firms of Lightman & Manochi, which was seeking the referral fee, and Marcus & Auerbach, which led the class action suit, does not name attorney John Hargrove as a member of the Affiliated Counsel Group from which Gary P. Lightman could draw a fee under his firm’s contract with Marcus & Auerbach.
