For 60 years, the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia has been directly and indirectly involved in the efforts to increase diversity throughout the city. The Barristers have taken part in the various discussions on diversity in the legal profession, as well as the post-discussion acts that strive to implement advancements in diversity. Our endeavors have historically targeted increasing opportunities available to practicing African-American attorneys through networking events, seminars, CLEs and meetings, and offering scholarship and employment opportunities to law students.

We believe it is important to move from discussions on diversity to a point of action; to go beyond discussing possible strategies to implementing those strategies. Strategies for increasing diversity are all around us, and we should all be working to determine what we can do as individuals, as lawyers within our firms, and lawyers within associations or other groups to increase diversity.
