When former Luzerne County Judge Ann H. Lokuta and her lawyers walked into a Harrisburg courtroom Tuesday, they had little expectation that the court might consider restoring the embattled jurist to the office from which she was removed nearly a year ago.

But in a hearing intended to allow the Court of Judicial Discipline to hear arguments on whether it should reopen the sanctions hearing in Lokuta’s case in light of the widespread public corruption scandal that has rocked Luzerne County, some members of a clearly divided court appeared receptive to reinstating the common pleas judge to her post.
