When lawyers for the state of Illinois needed help navigating a complicated insurance case last year, they interviewed a number of firms. At stake was one of the largest insurance company liquidations to date, which involved a matter of first impression in Illinois. Jenner & Block stood out because of its local and national reputation and experience in exactly this type of work, according to Paul Miller, the state's special deputy receiver on the case.
"They had the right balance of experience and knowing they would help us get it done right," he said of the state's effort to liquidate Lumbermens Mutual Casualty Co. and two intertwined firms. "It brought comfort to a lot of our policyholders and creditors."
