Paul Schiff Berman brought high energy and ambition when he became dean of George Washington University Law School, where he is wrapping up his first year in the top seat. The university’s president, Steven Knapp, told the law school’s magazine last summer that Berman “brings to the position exactly the right combination of vision, legal scholarship and proven administrative achievement.”

Berman, a former dean of Arizona State University Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, takes a personal interest in students, calling first-years to talk about their interests and aspirations before the start of classes.
