Bruce Searby, the lead federal prosecutor in Los Angeles who obtained a conviction against a Hollywood film producer and his wife in a closely watched Foreign Corrupt Practices Act case, has joined Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison’s Washington office as of counsel.

Searby, who has been an assistant U.S. attorney in Los Angeles for nine years, said he was lured to join Mark Mendelsohn, a partner in Paul Weiss’s Washington office and former deputy chief of the Department of Justice’s fraud section. Mendelsohn was a key official of the government’s Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigations and prosecutions. Searby also said that he wanted to move to Washington.
