Demand for legal services in the Los Angeles area has picked up in recent months, but the region’s lateral market remains lackluster compared to the Silicon Valley market and others across the nation.

Most of the lateral moves in Los Angeles have been centered on litigation and intellectual property — both traditionally strong practices in Los Angeles. Asia also has played a role. But Southern California, which was hit hard by the recession, especially in real estate, continues to struggle in its recovery.
