Mark Chandler was an outspoken champion of cutting costs before cutting costs was cool. As general counsel of Cisco Systems since 2001, he’s shown an uncanny ability to ferret out new efficiencies in alternative billing and legal technology. For in-house counsel under pressure everywhere to slash budgets without sacrificing results, his Silicon Valley legal department is a model. And he sees plenty more fat to cut. “There is nothing I can do today that I can’t do just a little bit better tomorrow,” he said.
